Get your geek on at Penn Camera

A trip to Penn Camera is like a trip to the candy store - so much goodness packed into one small space. Over the years, the folks at Penn Camera have helped us with every photo-related need we've had, from print cameras to digital, video cameras, lenses, tripods and carrying equipment. We buy there because we always leave knowing things we didn't know when we came in.
Yesterday evening was no exception - I went in to look at a tripod attachment for video-taping with an ipad (how cool is that?) and found out all kinds of things I could do with my tripod that I hadn't known (like folding up the legs to make a partial table mount, and moving the plate to different locations on the mount), the right way to clean out my Canon T2i body, some tips on setting the shutter speed for low-light photos, and what kind of HDMI cable works to connect the camera to the TV. This is Tom Martin, who (along with some others working in the store last night) gave me all this info and set us up to tape and take photos at an event at Glenview Mansion this evening, but I've found the same level of expertise and patience with almost everyone I've dealt with at Penn Camera. Glad we have them here in Rockville.
Here are their extended store hours for the 2012 holiday season:
MON - FRI 10 AM to 9 PM
SAT 10 AM to 7 PM
SUN 11 AM to 6 PM
DEC 24: 8 AM to 3 PM | DEC 25: CLOSED
(I'm also filing this under places to sell used items because they buy & sell used gear.)
