The five candidates on “Team Rockville,” all of whom have impressive credentials of service to the City already, presented their reasons for assembling this diverse and well-qualified slate of candidates for Rockville City Mayor & Council to an enthusiastic crowd of supporters yesterday.  Mark Pierzchala gave an inspiring speech about how the team (Pierzchala for Mayor and Tom Moore, Virginia Onley, Julie Palakovich Carr, and Beryl Feinberg for Rockville City Council) came to be, and rallied the crowd packing the room at Giuseppi’s Pizza Plus to come together so Rockville can thrive in these economically difficult times.  More about the vision of Team Rockville can be found at the Team Rockville website and in the Gazette article linked to below.

I was especially happy to hear a candidate (Julie Palakovich Carr, in the center above, with council candidate Beryl Feinberg on the left, and mayoral candidate Mark Pierzchala on the right), making sustainability and the future of the planet central to her campaign, and also to see Elizabeth Waibel of the Gazette featuring that from among the many ideas put forth at the campaign event:

From the Gazette article (linked to below): Palakovich Carr is running for council for the first time. She chaired the Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance Committee and serves on the Environment Commission. If elected, she said she will be a good steward of the city’s resources, deal with the backlog of unfunded infrastructure projects and adopt environmentally friendly policies. "I want to continue to build Rockville’s reputation as an environmental leader," she said.

You have our support, Julie!  We look forward to hearing more of Team Rockville’s ideas and plans in the upcoming months before the Nov 5 election.
