WEIQI/GO/BADUK FUNDRAISER FOR ROCKVILLE SISTER CITY CORP
LOCATION: Rockville Town Square Library
This fundraiser will focus on the Asian strategy board game GO (a.k.a Weiqi and Baduk). It will support the Rockville Sister City Corporation (RSCC) which is a tax-deductible, not-for-profit corporation that has fostered Rockville’s 50+ year sister city relationship with Pinneberg, Germany and is about to engage in a brand new friendship city relationship with Jiaxing, China. GO/WEIQI/BADUK is a popular, highly revered 3,000+ year old board game played throughout China, Korea, and Japan. It is as easy to learn as checkers, but is strategically more complex and profound than all other traditional board games. The program will consist of three primary activities: (1) Open Tournament; (2) Internet Friendship Match between ROCKVILLE and JIAXING; and (3) Beginners Workshop. For event details, contact John Goon at 301.613.8297, or SPINEYONE@YAHOO.COM.
