Strathmore provides affordable, accessible, multi-disciplinary arts programming in the Mansion at Strathmore, the Music Center at Strathmore, and on its scenic 11-acre site.

Artistic offerings presented by Strathmore in the Music Center include world-class performances by major national artists of folk, blues, pop, jazz, show tunes, and classical music. The Music Center is also the home to five resident artistic partner organizations (including the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, National Philharmonic, and CityDance Ensemble) who present performances in the Concert Hall and classes in the Education Center.

Amenities in the Music Center at Strathmore include the Prelude Cafe, open for breakfast, lunch, afternoon snacks and pre-concert meals, and the Music Center at Strathmore Shop.

James Weaver, baritone and Joanne Kong, piano
For its scale, dramatic power, and musical unity, Franz Schubert’s mythic Winterreise holds pride of place in the canon of literary song cycles. Baritone James Weaver, much sought-after for his performances of lieder, and period pianist Joanne Kong recreate the atmosphere of a 19th century salon with this beautiful performance.

National Philharmonic Choral Masterworks: Carmina Burana
The seductive and irresistible driving rhythms of Orff's Carmina Burana have made it one of the most celebrated choral works of the 20th century.
The program will also include Stravinsky's Symphony of Psalms. With soprano Audrey Luna, tenor Robert Baker and baritone Leon Williams.

Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana - Navidad Flamenca
Move over, Drosselmeyer—make room for Tio Augustin! Shoo, sugar plum fairies—enter the flamenco dancers! The story may seem familiar, but the cast of characters is refreshingly new. A large family gathers to eat and drink, to dance and sing, to celebrate Christmas—all while recalling the folkloric fiesta of Flamenco. After its last sold-out Strathmore performance, The Washington Post named this joyous company one of the Top 5 Dance performances of 2007. This performance will also be held at 4:00 PM on the same day.

Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic – U.S. Premiere of Beethoven’s Oboe Concerto in F (missing for over 200 years)

Don’t miss the U.S. Premiere the adagio movement of Beethoven’s lost Oboe Concerto in F with oboist and host H. David Meyers in a multi-faceted concert featuring The Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic under the direction of by Ulysses S. James.

The concert will also feature great vocals by tenor Prince Edward Havely, the world premiere of a new work by Philip Momchilovich, and some selections of classic big band era m1usic by the Olney Big Band. After intermission flutist Linda Boyd will perform Henry Mancini’s Cameo for Flute, written for Sir James Galway. Violinist Jenny Oaks Baker will play Vivaldi’s Winter from the his Four Seasons as well as beautiful arrangements of Gabrielle’s Oboe and a Suite from Far and Away. Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic will perform American composer George Whitfield Chadwick’s wonderful Symphonic Sketches.

Post-Concert: Complimentary beverage service and dancing to the Big Band Era sounds of the 21-person Olney Big Band, directed by Rip Rice and featuring Nancy Rondeau and Brad Bawek (vocalists), John Gottdiener (clarinet and tenor saxophone) and many others. This recently formed dance and concert band (2002) already has performed in Blues Alley and at the 2008 Montreux Jazz Festival.
